What Trees Are Doing to Prevent Road Rage and Give Cheaper Auto Insurance Quotes

You've already heard the spiel over and over again. To qualify for cheaper auto insurance quotes you have to have a clean driving record. You need good credit. It helps if you drive a cheap car! And the interstate during rush hour is just a diabolical cauldron of disaster bubbling and brewing, so steer clear if you can. What your parents, your driver's ed instructor and the judge that gave you your license forgot to tell you is that save driving isn't the only thing that gives you cheaper auto insurance quotes.

The trees are doing their part too.

Wait, trees? Yep, you heard me. Studies show that drivers who drive in areas where the trees grow thick along the edge of the road are less likely to have an accident and, as such, enjoy cheaper auto insurance quotes.

How is this accomplished? Apparently the subconscious has more influence on the conscious mind than we thought. People have known for years that trees and plants have a soothing effect. There's anecdotal evidence that patients in hospital rooms with a view of the trees, or who can walk through the trees for short periods, recover faster than those that don't. Experts suggest you keep a plant at work to help minimize your job dissatisfaction. People living in areas where trees grow thick tend to be more friendly and develop better relationships with their neighbors.

With all that in mind, it shouldn't come as any surprise to realize drivers driving in areas thick with trees are less prone to road rage and, as such, are less likely to make a mistake and swing off the road, into another car or into a pedestrian in their frustration. Calm drivers are happy drivers, and happy drivers are safe drivers. And neighborhood planning committees are doing everything they can to make sure they have as many happy drivers as possible.

Of course, a lack of road rage isn't the only perk of having a street lined with trees. If you live in one of these lovely neighborhoods you already know that trees can do wonders to shade your house and cut back on your cooling bill. You also know that they make a great barrier between you and nosy neighbors you really, really wish couldn't look through your windows!

All things considered, a tree is a great thing to have around.
